Brisbane is easily a popular destination among Queenslanders and holiday-goers, no matter what time of the year. Whether you’re here for some of the biggest events or festivals, or just taking a break from your hectic work life, you can always think of so many ways to celebrate life, Brisbane style. What’s even better is that some of its best attractions are for free! If it is your first time touring this iconic city, don’t forget to check out Brisbane City Hall.

Start by targeting the iconic Brisbane City Hall Clock Tower anytime between 10 am and 5 pm. Please note that you must obtain a ticket on your visit from the Museum of Brisbane counter on Level 3. The Clock also does not chime over the weekends though, in case you’re going on a weekend.

Meanwhile, you can chill out and dine at Shingle Inn Cafe or Red Cross Cafe, two of the City Hall’s cafes with the former being located on the ground floor, via the King George Square entry. The Red Cross Cafe, on the other hand, operates as Commix Expresso and continues to be run by the Red Cross. Located on the basement level of City Hall with the exterior door facing the Adelaide Street side of City Hall, the cafe offers affordable meals and snacks.

The Museum of Brisbane showcases the living history of Brisbane and its people. Located on Level 3 with spectacular views of the clock tower and copper dome, you can look forward to diverse art exhibitions scheduled each month.

As of today, the Museum of Brisbane features photographic exhibitions entitled Cloud Land and Living in the City: New Architecture in Brisbane and the Asia Pacific.

Allow photographer Robyn Stacey to captivate you in her dreamlike works that will reveal some of Brisbane’s most familiar landmarks using the technique camera obscura in Cloud Land. The latter, which will allow you to appreciate Brisbane’s architecture, aims to reveal and define the truest personality of this vibrant city.
