One of Australia’s largest international art festivals returns this spring, and it’s not to be missed for heaps of live entertainment and one incredible festival atmosphere. Each September, BRISBANE FESTIVAL takes over the city with an unmissable program of music, theatre, dance, circus, opera, and exciting public events, which occurs over three jam-packed weeks. Brisbane Festival aims to showcase talent from all over the world and unite people together for a celebration of all things cultural and artistic.
Brisbane Festival began in 1996, created by the Queensland Government and the Brisbane City Council, and became an annual event in 2009 when it merged with Brisbane’s Riverfestival. Since then, Brisbane Festival has attracted passionate individuals from all over the world, and become one of the biggest cultural events in Queensland each year.
During Brisbane Festival, venues and locations all across Brisbane come alive with a huge program of live music, theatre, dance, circus, opera, and more. Some of the locations include QPAC in South Bank, the Cultural Forecourt in South Bank, Riverstage in the Brisbane City Botanic Gardens, and The Tivoli in Fortitude Valley. The diverse program offers something for all ages and tastes, and you can be sure to find something worth seeing.
As with each annual Brisbane Festival, the event ends its long three-week run with an explosive fireworks display in South Bank. This 2018, Sunsuper Riverfire will feature even more fireworks and a brand new theme of Sci-Fi and superheroes, and it’s guaranteed to be a blast!
Brisbane Festival returns from September 8 to September 29, and will end with Sunsuper Riverfire on its final night. Make sure not to miss it this 2018!
